By Car

SAT NAV – the venue’s address is York Racecourse, Racecourse Road, YORK YO23 1EX. However, if using the post code please check your Sat Nav is locating Racecourse Rd as other parts of the Racecourse use the same postcode. All routes to the Racecourse within the City environs are signed.

Our show is easy to get to by road with York (the City) and the Racecourse fully signed with both permanent and temporary event show signing. However we strongly recommend that all attendees follow the temporary event signing to the venue. These signed routes may not be the shortest but they will help you avoid congestion in York City Centre

As you are reading this page on-line it is assumed you have internet access to all the current e-mapping and route finding services. However, it is recommended that you check traffic management advice services on the day of travel for the latest information. This link is to our more detailed location information, maps and several links to traffic feed options.

Rail Travel to York

York is a major rail centre served by mainline, cross-country and local services. The regular changes of franchisees, and associated pages within their websites, has rendered maintenance of the former level of detailed information impossible to keep current. However, this is no longer necessary as you are reading this page on-line therefore you have internet access to all the current rail travel timetable, ticket booking and other services. If arriving by train also see our local bus section below.

The two key information links are below.

For Network Rail Engineering works check this interactive page on the National Rail Enquiries web site (Last checked 4 April 2019).

Trainline – this is the link to the Trainline information and ticketing site (Last checked 4 April 2019).

Local bus services to the Show and Racecourse area (Updated for 2019)

Latest regarding the predicted position on buses for 2019 (As at 4 April 2019)

The York Area bus map shows routes 11, 21, 26, & 197 serving the end of Racecourse Road. Unfortunately this is misleading as that section of route 11 is an evening service only – during the day it only serves Bishopthorpe Road. The public transport options are therefore the 21, 26 & 197 (Saturday) other days the 197 only. We understand Senior Passes are not valid on the 197.

Show link bus (Service 197) Please note this link is provided as a commercial operation independently of YMRS by Transdev

Transdev have now confirmed the link is running. More information, including a link fare offer from Leeds is here on the Transdev website (Section updated 9 Apr 2019)

Service bus options – Saturday Only

Bus route 21 – operator Connexions Buses (Link re validated for 2019)

Service bus – runs a limited service from the railway station – Timetable. Check pick up points for return journey.

Bus route 26 – operator = Arriva N East (Timetable pdf)

Bus route 11 – This service runs direct down Bishopthorpe Rd during the show hours. The nearest stop is therefore a considerable walk from the venue. Number 11 route map | No.11 timetable (updated 2019 edition link)
